Range Rules and Polices
As of 2008
No permanent structures or buildings will be built or removed without the Action Pistol or ORSA board approval. Non permanent structures require Action Pistol board approval.
No plinking of any kind is allowed; approved targets only.
All persons, visitors and participants must wear eye and ear protection during shooting activities.
None of the shooting disciplines may leave permanent or portable props in any shooting bay. Example – target stands, portable walls, barrels etc.
The discharge of any firearm must be within the confines of said bay, not to exceed the open ends of the berm.
Only one shooter will be permitted to shoot in a bay at the same time, except when there is a common firing line at an organized sanctioned event.
Thrown or launched targets are prohibited.
The safety regulations of the Action Pistol Groups must be followed to the letter. Steel targets will be engaged at a distance set forth according to each group’s governing body’s rules.
Any training or special events must be scheduled through the Action Pistol Club and approved by the ORSA board except for routine safety/orientation as provided by each discipline.
All automatic firearms are prohibited.
Anytime a bay is setup for a scheduled match, it is prohibited to shoot or change the position of any props or targets unless authorized by the discipline’s Match Director.
At the discretion of the Match Director, when an organized match is in progress, any unused bays may be used for practice or setup. Permission is required prior to use.
The use of Rifles and Shotguns on the Action Pistol Range:
a. The Cowboy Action discipline can use period type rifles and shotguns with ammo permitted for use in accordance with their governing body’s rules for practice and match competition.
b. NO other rifles or shotguns are allowed to be used on the Action Pistol Range
c. USPSA Three gun matches are permitted. The rules set forth by USPSA for three gun match must be strictly adhered to. If any clay targets are use they must cleaned up at the end of the match.
d. Practice for 3-gun matches is permitted in conjunction with a scheduled sanctioned 3-gun match provided there is a discipline sanctioned safety officer supervising the practice session.
The above rules are intended to establish and clarify the range rules for the Action Pistol Range as they apply to the shooting disciplines and other users of the Action Pistol Range.
